Hiroshima

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Right, I`m in Hiroshima just now with Kirsty, she arrived last night.  It@s great to have a break from the folks and Bruce. We:ve just been to the Peace park and museam which was really pretty harrowing. I went about 5 years ago, but there was loads I didn`t remember.  These 2 really cute Japanese school girls came over to us and said "Excuse me, may I ask you a question?" so they then asked us where we were from etc, they were soooo cute I almost cried!  Japanese kids are just so well behaved and lovely.  like in the train station, there was a big group of kids, about 30 - looked like a school outing - with about 5 adults. They were all lined up in pairs. No one was pissing around or misbehaving and I thought you`d never get than in Scotland.  They all look so smart too.  Well they took our photo too and we took one of them, so I put it up at some point.

Yesterday we went to the Temple where Bruce is getting married and met Naokos family. It was great, they are all lovely.  They took us out for dinner and we had 7 courses! It was amazing - crab, sushi, sashimi, prawns, steak, fish eggs. I got my kimono sorted for the ceremony - I have to get there 2 hours before to get dressed and everything. Should be good as me, Naoko and her sister Yukiko are all getting dressed together.  I`m not allowed to eat much before hand!

Anyhow, we`re off for some food now.

wedding madness

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

So I have the opportunity to write a quick post once again.  It’s totally crazy now, just 4 days till the wedding and it’s non stop.  Bruce and Naoko are both totally stressed and none of us really have a clue what is going on and keep having to get Bruce to translate and he is going mental trying to do about 5 things at once. Anyway, we went up to this big shrine again today, I even tried out my Japanese, touble is I can ask a question or whatever but then cant understand what they say back. Ah well, it’s pretty funny.

Mum is doing all the flowers for the wedding, so tomorrow we’re going to a flower market to get all that stuff and I think Bruce and Naoko are both pretty nervous about it and mum is getting stressed out too - arghh.  Kirsty and Stuart arrive tomorrow which is good as I’ll get some peace from the family!

It’s all good though!

Right, Bruce is back and needs on the computer so I’m off to bed. We just kicked ass at the sega centre - some gun game, I got told off for taking a photo though "dame" they say.  Anyway, I took one so I’ll get it up soon.

no time

Errr, so I thought I would have more time to write, but I have barely had a free second so far. At the moment I am just waiting for Bruce to come and pick me up from his flat in Matsuyama so I thought I’d do a quick post. So in my 6 days in Japan I haven’t stayed in the same place for more than a night. It was Tokyo, then Nagoya then Osaka then Matsuyama. Yesterday we went to Hiroshima ken and stayed in a log cabin in the mountains for Bruce’s stag do which was pretty funny. Me and 8 drunken guys, it was an international affair, with Oz, New Zealand, the states, Scotland, Japan and Singapore represented. We also had a professional WWF wrestler and a professional footballer amongst us - so you can imagine most of the evening was spent drunkenly trying to beat the pro wrestler (not me) Bruce is covered in bruises!  I’ve got loads of photos but havent’ had a chance to down load them.

Mum and dad had a break from us when we were away and stayed in matsuyama pottering around.  Dad almost died on a chair lift going up to a shrine on a mountain, his camera cord got twisted round the chair and was also attached to his belt so when he stepped off he was still attached and almost got dragged over the side. Also mum walked in to the hotel Onsen (hot bath) and witnessed a couple shagging! I think she was pretty traumatised, cos apparently the man was about 70 and the girl was in her 20’s - dirty old bastard!  Ah ha, just another standard day for the landers.

The guy we stayed with in Nagoya, a friend of Bruces, nicknamed us the Unforgettable Forgettables! Cos we keep leaving things places- so far I have lost my sunnies and mum lost her camera, but we have got them both back.

Ah ha, what a laugh. Omoshiroi, as they say in Japan.

Right o, will email or post again soon I hope - will try and get some photos online too.

getting started

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Well, I thought it would be a cunning plan to start some sort of blog so that I can keep my pals updated on my movements when I am over in Japan and beyond.  Save me writing loads of emails/postcards/letters or whatever. Hope it works. I’m not promising it to be interesting or exciting…
